As I consider all the things that I’ve done over the years that I wish I could’ve done differently, it’s a good list. The nature of bird hunting is that it’s everchanging – the birds don’t always do what you think they’re going to do. Even now, if I try something different, I can still get it wrong!
I grew up stalking red deer with Dad from the age of four, but it wasn’t until I was seventeen that I chased sika for the first time; it was during a summer trip into the Kaimanawa Forest Park with my good friend Bruce.
