October 1st is nearly upon us again – the start of a brand-new freshwater fishing season! I don’t know about you guys, but I’m excited to get out for some backcountry adventures with my mates. If you’re not out scouting by now, you should be, and it’s not too late to teach a mate so they can come along with you. We truly are spoilt to live in one of the best – if not the best – trout-fishing locations in the world; yet I still hear grumpy stories from anglers running into other anglers – or guides/foreigners – all the time. My challenge to everyone this new season is to forget about your old favourite fishing spot and go try somewhere new! It’s amazing what’s out there, people, and you’ll never know until you try.
