Legends – Erlton Wilson’s Classic Otago Trophy of 1929 – Part Three

Erlton Wilson nicely placed with his telescope spying for deer in the headwaters of the the Blue Valley. His Lee Speed .303 rifle is at hand for that ever hopeful moment when a trophy might show.

At the end of March 1929, Wilson and Clem Anderson were still persevering with the Otago country around Makarora and had camped at Kiwi Flat where they had two blocks to stalk: Block 31 – Camerons Creek – and on the river’s opposite flank, the Fish River – Block 33. This time their guide for the roaring period was Colin Harvey.
