Over the past couple of years, I’ve started to take my son (now six years old) hunting whenever possible. There’ve been many highlights, including bush stalking our first red stag together, culling goats, pigs and possums for conservation efforts, and simply the thrill of exploring new areas.
One deer species in New Zealand that holds something special for many hunters, and gains some of the highest respect for the challenge it brings to harvest, is the rusa.
